Utah Valley University’s men’s basketball program continues to make waves with new signings and coaching additions. Head coach Todd Phillips recently announced the signing of Jaxson Roberts, a standout player from Corner Canyon High School. Roberts, a 6-foot-2 guard, played a vital role in leading Corner Canyon to a remarkable 25-3 overall record and an unbeaten 10-0 mark in region play. His exceptional skills contributed to the team’s victory in the 6A State Championship.

Phillips expressed his admiration for Roberts, highlighting his competitive spirit and ability to make crucial plays. With an average of 15.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game, Roberts proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the court. His outstanding performance during the 6A State Tournament earned him the title of Most Valuable Player, thanks to his remarkable average of nearly 21 points per game and an impressive shooting percentage of 63.
However, before donning the Wolverines’ jersey, Roberts will embark on a two-year LDS mission in Spain. Coach Phillips and the Utah Valley basketball program anticipate his arrival for the 2025-26 season.
Alongside the signing of Roberts, Utah Valley has reinforced its coaching staff with two new additions. Rosbie Mutcherson joins the program as an assistant coach after spending the last two seasons at Idaho State. Mutcherson brings a wealth of experience in recruiting, player development, and community engagement.
Louis Wilson also joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach, following his successful tenure as the head coach at UT Tyler. With 32 years of collegiate basketball coaching experience, including 23 years at the Division I level, Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Utah Valley. His leadership guided UT Tyler through the transition from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II, establishing the Patriots as a formidable force in the Lone Star Conference.
Coach Phillips expressed his excitement about the additions to the coaching staff, emphasizing the experience, success, and positive impact both Mutcherson and Wilson will bring to the program. Wilson’s experience as an associate head coach at Grand Canyon and assistant coach at Utah State adds valuable expertise to the team.
Utah Valley University’s men’s basketball program continues to elevate its status, with notable signings and coaching additions. Under the guidance of Coach Phillips and the collective efforts of the coaching staff and players, the Wolverines aim to compete for another regular season WAC championship.
