BYU football players 1-25: No. 2 Ben Bywater

Ben Bywater was the Cougar football team’s top tackler a year ago, and is a good bet to reprise that feat again this season. The 6-foot-3, 235 pound junior from Olympus High School has proven durable throughout his career and notched 98 tackles a season ago from the middle linebacker position. He’ll man that position again this season where he’ll likely assert himself as a top playmaker on defense, if not the top playmaker.

“Ben is big, fast, strong and smart,” said Ben Criddle, host of Cougar Sports with Ben Criddle on ESPN960. “The fact that he was lighty-recruited while playing little football in high school, and is now playing as a top linebacker at a program like BYU — a program that has included stars like Cameron Jensen, Rob Morris, Kyle Van Noy and several others — that speaks volumes about him as a player and as a coaching staff that developed him.”
