Big Weekend for the Kaufusi family: BYU Football Pro Tracker Preseason, Week 3

In the final week of preseason games 16 former Cougars saw action, while seven others with secure roster sports were held out of action, and eight who were on teams earlier in the year were left out looking for new opportunities.

It was a big week for the Kaufusi family.

Corbin (OL, 49ers)—who had been released by San Francisco earlier in the week—was resigned on August 27th to a one-year contract.  He only allowed one QB pressure in 19 snaps in 49ers final preseason game versus the Raiders.

Isaiah (LB, Colts) made the most of his final tryout for the Colts and ended up with ten tackles (seven solo), one pass breakup, and one tackle for loss.  Unfortunately for him, it wasn’t enough and the Colts waived him three days later.  With his impressive preseason it is expected that he will either be added to the Colt’s practice squad or be picked up by another team.

Bronson (TE, Packers) was graded at 83.3 in his final preseason game for the Packers and also had the privilege of baptizing his friend and Packers teammate Christian Uphoff.

Game Summaries

  • Zayne Anderson (CB, Chiefs). Three solo tackles. Preseason totals: three games, 10 tackles (seven solo).  Waived by the Chiefs August 30th.
  • Matt Bushman (TE, Raiders). One reception for ten yards. Preseason totals: three games, three receptions for 24 yards.
  • Brady Christensen (OL, Panthers). Played left tackle (20 snaps) versus the Steelers.  Preseason totals: three games, no stats.
  • Zac Dawe (DL, Falcons). One solo tackle. Preseason totals: three games, four tackles. Waived by the Falcons August 30th.
  • Chandon Herring (OT, Titans). No stats. Preseason totals: three games, no stats.  Waived by the Titans August 30th.
  • Bronson Kaufusi (TE, Packers). Played and graded at 83.3 but accumulated no stats. Preseason totals: two games, no stats.
  • Corbin Kaufusi (OT, 49ers). Allowed on one QB pressure on 19 snaps versus the Raiders. Preseason totals: three games, no stats.  Was waived by the 49ers on August 24th then resigned on August 27th.
  • Isaiah Kaufusi (LB, Colts). Ten tackles (seven solo). Preseason totals: three games, 16 tackles (seven solo), one pass breakup, one tackle for loss. Waived by the Colts August 30th.
  • Harvey Langi (LB, Patriots). Seven tackles (four solo). Preseason totals: three games, 22 tackles (four solo), one tackle for loss, one sack, one interception.
  • Dallin Leavitt (S, Raiders). Four tackles (two solo). Preseason totals: three games, six tackles (two solo).
  • Dax Milne (WR, Washington). Three receptions for 36 yards. Preseason totals: three games, five receptions for 52 yards, one punt return for 19 yards.
  • Daniel Sorensen (S, Chiefs). One solo tackle. Preseason totals: three games, two solo tackles.
  • Kyle Van Noy (LB, Patriots). Two QB pressures. Preseason totals: three games, six tackles.
  • Troy Warner (S, Rams). One solo tackle. Preseason totals: three games, four tackles (one solo). Waived by the Rams August 30th.
  • Chris Wilcox (DB, Buccaneers). Two tackles (one solo). Preseason totals: three games, six tackles (one solo).
  • Ty’Son Williams (RB, Ravens). Four carries for 42 yards, one reception for -1 yard. Preseason totals: three games, 24 carries for 131 yards and one touchdown, eight receptions for 36 yards.

Did Not Play

  • Francis Bernard (LB, Cowboys). Did not play as he is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
  • Michael Davis (CB, Chargers). Held out of preseason week 3 game. Preseason totals: two games, two tackles.
  • Fred Warner (OLB, 49ers). Was held out of all the 49ers preseason games.
  • Sione Takitaki (LB, Browns). Out with a hamstring injury. Preseason totals: one game, three tackles.
  • Khyiris Tonga (DT, Bears). Sidelined for the game against the Titans with a minor ankle injury. Preseason totals: two games, two tackles, two quarterback hits.
  • Jamaal Williams (RB, Lions). Held out of the Preseason week 3 game. Preseason totals: one game, rushed nine times for 15 yards.
  • Zach Wilson (QB, Jets). Held out of the Jets final preseason game. Preseason totals: two games, 15-for-20 passing for 191 yards, two touchdowns.

No longer on signed to an NFL team

  • Ziggy Ansah (DE, 49ers). Hasn’t re-signed with the 49ers since the summer and isn’t currently attached to a team.
  • John Denney (LS, Saints). Was at a tryout earlier during preseason week 1 but didn’t appear in any of the Saints preseason games.
  • Kavika Fonua (DB, Panthers). Had mini-camp invite but was cut from the team over the summer.
  • Aleva Hifo (WR, Cardinals). Was signed to the Cardinals on August 6th but recorded no stats in Arizona’s week 1 preseason game. Was cut on August 18th.
  • Tristen Hoge (OT, Jets). 24 snaps. Preseason totals: two games, no stats. Waived by the Jets August 19th.
  • Dayan Lake (S, Rams). Reached injury settlement after being placed on injured reserve August 6th.
  • Kai Nacua (S, 49ers). Despite a big week 2 did not play during week 3 and was cut to make room for Corbin Kaufusi on the 49ers roster. Preseason totals: two games: eight tackles (five solo), one pass defended, one tackle for loss, one sack.  Released by the 49ers on August 27th.
  • Micah Simon (WR, Panthers). Did not play week 2. Preseason totals: one game, 0 catches on two targets. Waived by the Panthers August 19th.
