BYU Football: Three Observations from Camp Kalani Day 4

PROVO – The last day of practice without pads concluded on Monday.  Here at three observations that I took away before the physicality ramps up on Tuesday night.

  1. Mo Langi with a Pass Breakup

Mo Langi is lining up in a two-point stance, and it’s unusual to watch a man that large playing football, but big Mo had a nice pass breakup that had his teammates jumping up and down and cheering him on.

  1. Talon Shumway with a TD grab in two-minute offense

The wide receivers have yet to make many big plays throughout the media observation sessions of practice, but Shumway had a great TD grab that reminded some of Austin Collie with the move he put on sophomore cornerback Chris Wilcox down the sideline.

  1. Taipe Vaka will join the program soon according to Kalani Sitake

Taipe “John” Vaka will be joining the BYU football program soon according to head coach Kalani Sitake.  Vaka is currently working on a class to finish his associates degree to become eligible.  Vaka was originally expected to join the program last January, then it was moved back to May, and now they are expecting him later this month.

With a week of fall camp nearly in the books already, it’s hard to expect Vaka to have a sizeable role on the 2017 roster.
