LOS ANGELES, CALIF. – The Utah Valley women’s soccer team defeated No. 19 USC 3-2 behind junior forward Faith Weber’s hat trick Thursday night. Weber scored her 8th goal of the season to put the Wolverines up 3-0 in the 61st minute of the second half. USC stormed back to score two goals in the second half, one in the 62nd minute of the match and the other coming in the 78th minute.

The Wolverines led the Trojans 1-0 at the half. Leading in most of the statistical categories as well. UVU had just 5 shots in the first half with the single goal from Webber coming in the 12th minute of the match as the star forward found the top left slot just out of the reach of the USC goalie.

In the second half, the momentum changed drastically in favor of USC after two shots found the back of the net for the Trojans. UVU was able to hold off a second half onslaught from the Trojans as ball after ball was sent into the box. USC ended out-shooting UVU in the second half of action 10-5 but the Wolverines back line were up to the challenge as they narrowly escaped with the 3-2 victory.

The result was the one UVU needed to turn its season around, the Wolverines got off to a slow start losing three straight matches to formidable opponents, Clemson, Utah and then ranked No. 7 BYU.

Utah Valley will stay in California for a matchup with Long Beach State on Sunday Sept. 10th. That match is scheduled to kick off at 2pm MT. and can be streamed live on ESPN+.
