UVU Formally Introduces Todd Phillips as Head Coach
Last week, UVU President Astrid Tuminez and Athletic Direct Jared Sumsion formally introduced Phillips as the fourth head coach in Utah Valley Basketball history. In his introductory press conference, Phillips asked the UVU faithful “What’s next?”
Phillips followed the question up with “We are going to win even more, we are going to win a WAC Championship, we are going to go to the NCAA Tournament and win a game.”

After being named head coach of Utah Valley Basketball last week, Todd Phillips joined Ben Criddle and Darnell Dickson to talk about where he wants to take the program following the departure of Mark Madsen.
When Phillips was asked about the most impressive part of his teams deep run in the NIT he responded, “I think I was most impressed by our consistency and how we continued to gain momentum and confidence. Confidence is huge in the game of basketball. If you have it, you can go out and play with anyone. … As you look back at those games, Utah Valley was an aggressor in all of those games. … Our aggressiveness continued to increase as we played against higher competition and teams.”
UVU will look to continue their aggressive play next season as they contend for another WAC regular season title under Phillips.
