BYU football players 1-25: No. 8 Tyler Batty

Tyler Batty is a relatively easy add to anyone’s top 10 BYU list. The 6-foot-5, 273 pound Jr. from Payson has a unique skill set that allowed him to play just about every position on the football field during his prep career. Big things are expected from him this season in helping provide a strong pass rush from the outside along with some versatility in Defensive Coordinator Jay Hill’s aggressive defensive system.

“Tyler Batty is a throwback to the 80s and 90s, which BYU fans love,” said Ben Criddle, host of Cougar Sports with Ben Criddle on ESPN960. “Back then you had guys with the same size as Batty and largely the same skillset. So hopefully Tyler is the resurgence of that — when BYU had standout guys like Jason Buck, Jim Hermann and Shawn Knight. That’s what Tyler is supposed to be this year and that’s the expectation.”
