The Bullpen – February 18, 2015 Edition

Spring Training is officially underway in Major League Baseball as 5 teams have pitchers and catchers reporting today.  Those teams include the Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the 2015 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.  Each of these teams will hold their first workouts on Thursday.

Spring Training is a great time of year as every team is full of optimism.  They all have hope, everyone is excited to get things going.  All 30 teams have about a month and a half to try and determine which players will give them the best chance of making it to the World Series.  The Major League Baseball season officially begins on Sunday, April 5, as the Chicago Cubs host the St. Louis Cardinals in Sunday Night Baseball at 6:05 PM.  The other 28 teams will start things off on Monday, April 6, as 14 games will be on the schedule that day.

Will the San Francisco Giants be able to defend their 2014 World Series championship?  Will the Kansas City Royals be able to have another outstanding season?  These are just 2 of the many questions that teams will be facing heading into the 2015 season.

The majority of the teams have been active this offseason as these teams want to win now.  There are new managers, new general managers, and many players have switched uniforms.  It will be interesting see how teams perform during Spring Training as they prepare for the 162-game regular season.  One team that will have the spotlight, as always, is the New York Yankees.  The Yankees will be without their Captain, Derek Jeter, as Alex Rodriguez makes his return to the team after being suspended for the 2014 season.  Do they have any chance of returning to their glory?  You never know what a season will bring, that is the beauty of baseball.  Who will be the Kansas City Royals or the San Francisco Giants of 2015?  Everyone wants to make it to the World Series, but only 2 teams can make it.  The road to the 2015 World Series starts this week for 30 Major League Baseball.  Every team is even right now, let the preparations begin.  It is just about time to play ball!
