BYU football players 1-25: No. 1 Kingsley Suamataia

For all the ESPN960 contributors, tabbing Kingsley Suamataia as the top pound-for-pound BYU football player for 2023 was a fairly obvious choice. The 6-foot-6, 325 pound sophomore will start at left tackle this season, having completed a freshman season where he locked down the right tackle spot. The Orem product has met every expectation since transferring from Oregon and then some, and should leave the Cougar program regarded as one of the best offensive linemen to ever pass through.

“BYU has not had an offensive lineman as talented as Kingsley Suamataia since John Tait,” said Ben Criddle, host of Cougar Sports with Ben Criddle on ESPN960. “He has the potential top be what John Tait was for BYU and into the NFL, and perhaps even then some. I’ve had conversations with a number of analysts who project him as a first-round pick and even a top 10 pick should he progress as anticipated this season.”
