The BYU Football program received some positive news on the recruiting trail this past weekend as a trio of local high school prospects committed to the Cougars.

The three players that committed:

  • Linebacker Viliami Tausinga | East High (UT)
  • Cornerback Jaylon Vickers | East High (UT)
  • Wide Receiver Beau Robinson | Mountain Crest (UT)

Of the three players that committed, only Tausinga holds a scholarship offer from BYU.  Robinson and Vickers will compete as preferred walk-ons.

Tausinga’s commitment gave BYU a slight boost in the Rivals.com team rankings for the Class of 2018.  BYU was as low as 90th in the team rankings, now up to 85th after the Tausinga commitment.

BYU is ahead of two Power Five programs in the recruiting rankings and both hail from the Pac-12.  Oregon State and Arizona State.
