As the highly anticipated “Battle of the Brothers” returns to Logan for the first time in 12 years, Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham has once again ruffled some feathers by referring to BYU as “the guys down south.”

After making the comment, Whittingham joked later that he was “going to get lambasted for that.”

Both Utah and Utah State are grappling with quarterback injury concerns heading into Saturday’s game. Utah’s star quarterback, Cam Rising, is uncertain for Saturday’s matchup against the Aggies after suffering a hand injury. Meanwhile, Utah State’s Spencer Petras may be ready to return after dealing with an ankle injury, giving the Aggies hope for stability at the position.

The Utes struggled offensively in their last game with freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson under center, but the team remains optimistic about his development and potential improvement. With both teams looking to overcome challenges, the game is expected to be a sold-out, high-energy affair, with a hostile environment adding to the intensity.

Utah, with a 2-0 record, will take on Utah State, sitting at 1-1, in what promises to be a fierce rivalry showdown on Saturday, September 13th in Logan. Both teams are eager to compete and make a statement in this long-awaited return of the iconic in-state matchup.

Brice Larson and Jordan Bianucci chimed in on the matchup on Tuesday morning during Valley Sports Talk (8-10am, 960 AM). Hear their thoughts on the rivalry and more below.
