The Cougars will kick off the 2024 season against the Salukis of Southern Illinois on Saturday, Aug. 31. The FCS level team finished 2023 at 8-5, with a 4-4 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference, and advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs last season. Last season, the Wildcats went 9-4, with a 6-3 mark in Big 12 action to finish tied for fourth. Head coach Chris Klieman has led Kansas State to bowl games in four of his five seasons since moving on from North Dakota State, where he won four national championships at the FCS level.
Coming off a Nov. 2 BYE, new and old rivals will meet with Utah hosting BYU for the first time in Rice-Eccles Stadium since 2018. The game, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, will mark the 102nd meeting between the two teams with Utah holding a 62-35-4 overall record and a 40-17-3 record in Salt Lake City.
BYU hosts second-year Big 12 member Houston on Saturday, Nov. 30 in the 2024 regular-season finale. The Cougars from Houston have visited Provo once before, when BYU beat them 33-25 in 2014. Houston will have a new head coach in 2024 as Willie Fritz takes over after moving on from Tulane. The Cougars went 4-8 in their inaugural Big 12 season last year.
