BYU football players 1-25: No. 11 Eddie Heckard

A lot will be asked of Eddie Heckard during his lone season within the BYU football program, and for good reason. The 5-foot-10, 190 pound Weber State transfer comes to Provo with a wealth of experience within new Cougar defensive coordinator Jay Hill’s system and was named a FCS football All-American a season ago. He’ll be tasked as a leader and primary playmaker within the Cougar secondary where he’ll likely be employed in a variety of roles.

“He reminds me a lot of Dayan Ghanwoluku. He’s quiet and unassuming in his demeanor, but he’s a football junkie who is versatile and can play a number of different positions in the secondary,” said Ben Criddle, host of Cougar Sports with Ben Criddle on ESPN960. “He’s a total Jay Hill product who carries a lot of confidence, and for good reason. He’s good in all facets, but it’s his intelligence that sets him apart and allows him to play faster on the field.”
