BYU football Prep Tracker Week 11

While many of the preps from Utah rested this week with first round playoff byes, other recruits from around the country had their chance to shine.  This weekend featured some impressive play by a few two-way recruits (Hall, Pulalasi, and Harrison), as well as some great offense by Texas receiver Saimone Davis and running back Landen Chambers.

Skyline wide receiver and defensive back Miles Hall did play in what would be his last prep game on Friday as Skyline fell to East in the first round of the Utah 5A playoffs.  Hall went out with a bang, catching seven passes for 202 yards.  He finishes the season ranked no. 9 in the state in total receiving yards with 991, and with nine receiving touchdowns.  He also has impressive defensive numbers, ending the season with 75 tackles, four tackles for loss, and an interception.

Washington do-a-little-bit-of-everything athlete Leo Pulalasi had 11 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown on offense and five solo tackles on defense.  He didn’t punt or return kicks in this game.

Another two-way athlete, California WR/DB Chance Harrison, also had an impressive outing with four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns on offense, with three tackles on defense.

In Texas, Saimone Davis had a seven-yard touchdown reception, a solo tackle, a tackle for loss, and three quarterback hurries as Colleyvill Heritage defeated North Side in a convincing 52-13 victory.

Landen Chambers had another big game with 34 carries for 218 yards and a touchdown for Fossil Ridge to pull them back to .500.

Easton Baker (LB, Class of 2024). This Week: No. 14 ranked Stansbury (Utah 5A, 10-0) ended their regular season at 10-0 and as the no. 4 seed in the Utah 5A playoffs had a first round bye.  They will face no. 13 seed Cedar Valley in the second round on Friday (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In ten games, Baker has 70 tackles (37 solo), eight tackles for loss, five sacks, and interception, and a forced fumble. Follow Baker on Twitter @BakerEaston

Owen Borg (LB, Class of 2023). This week: No. 3 ranked Corner Canyon (UT 6A, 8-2) enters the Utah 6A playoffs as the no. 1 seed and had a first round bye.  They face no. 16 seed Layton in the second round on Friday (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals:  In eight games Borg has 62 tackles (36 solo), three tackles for loss, three passes defended, and four interceptions. Follow Borg @Owenborg10.

Jackson Bowers (TE, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 22 ranked Mountain View (Arizona 6A, 2-5) lost to Chandler 49-6. Bowers had a four-yard reception, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended (MaxPreps).  Season Totals: In seven games Bowers has 29 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns, one carry for one yard, four tackles (three solo), four tackles for loss, two sacks, a pass defended, and a forced fumble. Ryder Burton (QB, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 10 ranked Springville (Utah 5A, 8-1) is a no. 3 seed in the Utah 5A playoff tournament and had a first round bye.  They face no. 19 seed Alta in the second round on Friday (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In nine games Burton is 95-of-177 passing for 1771 yards and 19 touchdowns to four interceptions.  He also has 37 carries for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Landen Chambers (RB, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 223 ranked Fossil Ridge (Texas, 4-4) lost to Keller 47-21. Chambers had 34 carries for 218 yards and a touchdown (MaxPreps). Saimone Davis (ATH, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 271 ranked Colleyville Heritage (Texas 5A-2, 5-3) defeated North Side 52-13.  Davis had one seven-yard reception for a touchdown, a solo tackle, a tackle for loss, three quarterback hurries (MaxPreps). Siale Esera (LB/DE, Class of 2023). This week: No. 4 ranked Timpview (Utah 5A, 7-2) locked down the no. 2 seed in the Utah 5A tournament and had a first round bye.  They face no. 15 seed East on Friday (MaxPreps). Season Totals: In eight games Esera has 57 tackles (41 solo), with five tackles for loss, four passes defended, one sack, and one 64-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Matthew Fredrick (TE/DE, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 17 ranked East (Utah 5A, 7-4) got the no. 15 seed in the Utah 5A tournament and defeated Skyline in the first round 70-28.  They face no. 2 seed Timpview on Friday. In the first round victory Fredrick had two receptions for 21 yards (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In eight games Fredrick has 15 receptions for 164 yards. Miles Hall (ATH, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 49 ranked Skyline (Utah 5A, 4-7) lost their first round matchup to East 70-28 and their season is over.  In Hall’s final game he had seven receptions for 202 yards (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In nine games Hall has 43 receptions for 991 yards (no. 9 in the state in total yards) and nine touchdowns, two carries for zero yards, and two kickoff returns for 34 yards.  On defense he has 75 tackles (37 solo), two passes defended, one forced fumble, one interception, four tackles for loss, and one sack. Chance Harrison (ATH, Class of 2024). This week: No. 97 ranked Rio Mesa (California, 7-2) defeated Dos Pueblos 54-0.  Harrison had four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns, and three tackles (two solo) (MaxPreps). Season Totals: In eight games Harrison has two carries for five yards, 31 receptions for 413 yards and five touchdowns, four kickoff returns for 132 yards (33.0 avg), 46 tackles (31 solo), with two tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, two passes defended, and an interception returned 18 yards. Pokai Haunga (WR, Class of 2023). This week: No. 4 ranked Timpview (Utah 5A, 7-2) locked down the no. 2 seed in the Utah 5A tournament and had a first round bye.  They face no. 15 seed East on Friday (MaxPreps).  Season Totals: In one game Haunga has two receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown.  On defense he four solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and one 35-yard interception. Andrew Heinig (OL/DE, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 140 ranked Glenpool High School (Oklahoma 5A, 4-4) lost to Del City 72-0. Stats are not yet available. Against Sapulpa on 10/13 Heinig had six tackles, two tackles for loss, and two sacks (MaxPreps). Season Totals: In two games Heinig has 13 tackles, with five tackles for loss, and two sacks. Dallin Johnson (DT, Class of 2024). This Week: No. 10 ranked Springville (Utah 5A, 8-1) is a no. 3 seed in the Utah 5A playoff tournament and had a first round bye.  They face no. 19 seed Alta in the second round on Friday (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In eight games Johnson has 59 tackles (33 solo), 16.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, seven quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, and 9.5 sacks (no. 7 in the state). Josiah Phillips (WR, Class of 2023). This week: No. 28 ranked Sierra Canyon, California, 5-4) defeated Chaminade 49-14. Phillips had three receptions for 23 yards (MaxPreps). Season Totals: In seven games Phillips has 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, a two-point conversion, and has completed a 17-yard touchdown pass (MaxPreps). Leo Pulalasi (ATH, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 33 ranked Lakes High School (Washington 3A, 5-2) lost to Lincoln 42-28. Pulalasi had 11 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown and five solo tackles (MaxPreps). Season Totals: In seven games Pulalasi has rushed 54 times for 438 yards and 12 touchdowns (no. 6 in 3A for rushing TDs and no. 4 in total TDs), has 12 receptions for 291 yards and six touchdowns, two two-point conversions, one kickoff return for 37 yards, one punt return for 38 yards, 33 tackles (30 solo), five tackles for loss, one pass defended, one blocked field goal, one safety, and one interception (returned 13 yards). Stanley Raass (DL, Class of 2023). This Week: Kahuku High School (Hawaii, 9-2) defeated Kapolei 44-7.  Raass recorded no stats (MaxPreps, Scoring Live). Adney Reid (ATH, Class of 2024). This Week: Reid competed for Spanish Fork as a Freshman but is currently living in Australia where his parents are serving as mission president. David Tangilanu (DE/OT, Class of 2023). This week: No. 131 ranked Menlo-Atherton High School (California, 5-3) defeated Menlo School 24-14.  Tangilanu had three solo tackles (MaxPreps). Season Totals: 44 tackles (17 solo), with five tackles for loss and two sacks.

Ethan Thomason (OT, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 52 ranked Rocky Mountain High School (Colorado 5A, 5-4) defeated Boulder 42-3.  No stats reported for Thomason (MaxPreps).  Season Totals: No stats reported.

Will Walker (K/P, Class of 2025). This Week: No. 16 ranked Riverton (Utah 6A, 7-4) defeated Kearns 48-16 in the first round of the Utah 6A playoffs. Walker was not needed as a punter (MaxPreps, Deseret News). Season Totals: In six games Walker has 25 punts for 855 yards (36.2 avg when you remove one blocked punt). Pierson Watson (LB, Class of 2023). This Week: No. 72 ranked Coconino (Arizona 4A, 3-4) defeated Mingus 46-8.  Watson returned from injury and had one reception for 13 yards and four tackles (two solo) (MaxPreps).  Season Totals: In six games Watson has three receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown, one 61-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, 42 tackles (23 solo), with three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, five tackles for loss, and four sacks.  He has also kicked off twice for 121 yards (both touchbacks).  Follow Watson on Twitter @PiersonWatson
